On October 26, 2025, Aaron Rodgers will be looking to set a record in Pittsburgh as the oldest player in the league. The Steelers host the Packers in a matchup layered with history and personal milestones as 41-year old Rodgers could become one of only five quarterbacks in league history to defeat all 32 teams.

Building Up His Resume

Rodgers, who will be 42 before the end of the 2025-26 season, spent 18 seasons playing for Green Bay  after being selected in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. His residence brought the Packers a Super Bowl ring as well as four MVP awards for himself and a Super Bowl MVP, cementing his place among the game’s greats. He now ranks among the all-time leaders in passing yards and touchdowns — but one line in his resume remains unfinished.

The Prize at Stake

Currently, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Brett Favre are the only four quarterbacks to have beat all 32 teams in the NFL. Joe Montana and Fran Tarkenton deserve honorable mentions because they beat all the teams in the league during eras when there were only 28 teams represented. Rodgers isn’t the only quarterback closing in on the accomplishment either. Patrick Mahomes has beat 31 teams, but he’d have to leave Kansas City to beat all 32. Russell Wilson has beat 31 teams, but has yet to beat his former team, the Seattle Seahawks. Matthew Stafford too needs to beat the Steelers to complete his checklist.

Who Wants It More

The Sunday matchup holds weight for both sides, carrying both personal and historical significance. While Rodgers has a lot at stake, for Green Bay, it’s a chance to end a decades-long drought, as the franchise hasn’t earned a victory in Pittsburgh in 55 years. So while Rodgers is chasing a rare NFL feat, the Packers will be chasing an even rarer road win. This could be Rodgers’ only chance to reach his milestone because as he said earlier this year, he’s “pretty sure” this is going to be his last year in the league — signifying a symbolic closing chapter in one of football’s most storied careers.

Rodgers’ Relationship With the Team

Rodgers’ relationship with his former team is complicated, starting after Green Bay’s’ 2020 decision to draft quarterback Jordan Love in the first round. Rodgers’  exit two years later marked the end of an era for the Packers and Sunday will be his first time facing the franchise he led for nearly two decades.

“This is not a revenge game for me. I’m just excited to see some of those guys and be on Sunday Night Football again,” Rodgers said (date and occasion)

For Rodgers, Sunday isn’t about rivalry or revenge, it’s about closure and a chance to finish his story on his own terms. Whether he becomes the fifth quarterback to beat all 32 teams in the league or not, his legacy as one of the NFL’s greats is already secured. For a player that has built a career out of defying odds and rewriting narratives, one last “first” seems like a fitting chapter to end on.
