Event Planning

Members in this path are responsible for executing SBIC’s largest and most important events. Whether it's planning our annual basketball tournament, organizing logistics for industry trips, or securing sponsors, these members are directly responsible for how SBIC shows up on and off campus. This program is ideal for those interested in operations, partnerships, logistics, and event marketing.

The SBIC Journal

The SBIC Journal is a content-driven platform focused on original storytelling, sports business commentary, and multimedia. Members of this team will produce high-quality content that’s published and distributed via SBIC’s digital channels. It’s a creative outlet for those interested in writing, media production, or visual storytelling.

Marketing

Our Marketing path gives members the opportunity to work directly with real companies to improve their marketing. These teams will design, offer launch strategies that help grow each brand’s visibility, audience, and impact. This program offers real-world client experience in branding, content development, and digital marketing.

Philanthropy & Community Service

This path leads all community service efforts within SBIC. Members work directly with local partners and coordinate outreach programs across Southeast Michigan. The program emphasizes impact and consistency, helping members take ownership of initiatives that give back to the local community.

Overall Member Opportunities

  • Sales Development Program – Learn the foundations of sales and networking through presentations and various activities. Programming includes contributions from Attitude, Effort, Results (AER), and features optional assignments tied to their podcast and job-search content.

  • Resume & LinkedIn Workshops – Receive guidance on how to build and refine your professional profiles through hands-on workshops.

  • Alumni & Internship Database Access – Browse past internship placements and tap into a growing network of alumni willing to help with applications and referrals.

  • Mentorship Program – Have the opportunity to connect with industry professionals for one-on-one guidance. Mentors offer career guidance, networking opportunities, and valuable insights into navigating internships and full-time roles.

  • Speaker Series – Hear from high-level guests, including front-office executives, coaches, and sport ind professionals who provide insight into real-world career paths.

  • Club Socials – Build relationships with other members through mixers, game watches, and cross-org events.
